All of us who have loved, lost and grieved dogs know what a hard journey it is through the pain and these times of loss can be some of the hardest in our lives. We all look for ways to honor the souls of our dogs and stay in the gratitude of having had the wonderful gift of sharing time and space with them here on Earth. The Prayer Flags can be a physical symbol of the healing journey that begins as we move towards acceptance.
The tradition of the prayer flag comes from Tibetan Buddhist monks who believed that prayer flags with sacred images and mantras transmit blessings and healing energy into the world through the power of the wind. Tibetans believe that the prayers of these flags become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements and the wind blows through them. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, our own healing can begin, our hearts can begin to mend and make room for the more love that we know will be coming into our lives. When we send our feelings on the wind, we trust nature to turn our memories from sadness to gratitude for having loved and been loved so unconditionally.

Each of the five colorful flags measures 5 1/4" X 6 1/4" and each string of flags measures 58" in length.
The folks who designed and sell these prayer flags tell the story of their inspiration for the prayer flags:
"Ten years into the mesh of our lives, Alex left us suddenly. Cancer the vet said. He was gone before we could prepare ourselves and he left a deep, dark hole with his passing. In the days and week
s that followed his death we learned the language of grief. We struggled with the understanding of something that cannot be understood, we struggle with it still, many years after his passing.
Our Pet Prayer Flags came out of this struggle to accept and understand. We wanted something dynamic, not static like a card of condolence or fleeting as a bouquet of flowers. We wanted something that would continue to connect us to him, speak to him, wherever he is. We loved the simplicity and connection that Tibetans believed their prayer flags offered and so we designed our Pet Prayer Flags in the hope that our thoughts still reach Alex and that perhaps others will benefit from that same sense of infinite connection."
